Karina has been in her first area for just over a month now! She is loving her companion and describes her as ever so kind and patient. After a month together, they have even begun craving the same foods! She is loving being in Florida! She had her first Florida rain pour during her first week there, she said, "I couldn't help but smile, it was amazing!" Florida has been full of new experiences for Karina. She saw an alligator (from a distance), has been trying and loving new foods, is trying her best to adjust to the humidity, and has found that sadly, the mosquitoes have taken a liking to her despite her diligent use of bug spray. Karina recently began using an iPad, she says, "It is really cool that we are able to use this awesome technology that the Lord has created."
Karina's district has been struggling a bit finding people to teach and has had many days with no lessons at all. The district recently had a fast to help with the missionary efforts. Karina says, "I can literally see how much control the devil has here and also how powerful the Lord is. Even when times are tough, you need to remember that even if it looks like Satan is winning, he isn't in the long run. God is more powerful and he will always win. The question is: whose side will you be on?"
After the fast, Karina was able to go on exchanges (she and her companion "trade" companions with another set of sister missionaries for a day) with a sister training leader, or STL. Karina was able to drive their car and didn't even get lost! During her time on the exchange, Karina was able to see the miracles of the fast at work and they were able to teach two new investigators! She says, "I am seeing the Lord's hand in His work that we are helping Him with."
